if a player deliberately shows a card before deciding whether to bet or not, what are the consequences? (if any)

In most casinos & tournaments the hand would probably be declared dead. In some tournaments this would be allowed if heads up. I think I remember Negreanu being annoyed about it not being allowed at the WSOP.

That's if it was definitely intentional. Accidental exposures by players are allowed to play on.

According to the WSOP rules during the showdown rule #5 states:

5.Any player who has been dealt in may request to see any hand that has been called, even if the opponent's hand or the winning hand has been mucked. However, this is a privilege that may be revoked if abused. If a player other than the pot winner asks to see a hand that has been folded, that hand is dead. If the winning player asks to see a losing player's hand, both hands are live, and the best hand wins.

If I am the winning player that had 3 people call me at show down (I raised) I showed my cards and the remaining 3 hands mucked can I request to see the 3 mucked hands????
