I find stud too boring and old.. I ve played it a bunch of times but maybe im just a NL texas Holdem Kind of bandwagon person.. Anyone know of any sites that have decent paying stud tourneys? I like the carbon poker and poker.com NL cause i win but it seems that Studd is going the way of the doddo bird? Ant thoughts?

I don't see how stud could be called boring by no means . It keeps you on ya toes reading what everyone has . Old yes , but the game has been around for so long for a reason. ;)

I been playing stud and 5 card draw for over thirty year and love them both .

I love playing 7 card stud and have become fairll good at it. Iv taken down a few MTTs over at Carbonpoker and won my 1st limit 7 card stud MTT there last night:D

I haven't played much 5 card but have watched others play it.

I can't play stud live, it is just too slow. But I do enjoy playing it online. I think a good player has a better chance at stud then other games, because you see more cards, get an extra betting round, and paying attention will pay off.

It's only boring if you don't win. ;)

Hold'em players usually don't do good in stud, because they think it's all poker, therefore you play stud the same way you would play hold'em. That kind of approach will cost you money.

The "boring" part is also due to the fact that there is a bit less gambling involved in the game, as stud is a more analytical game, compared to hold'em.

Like most poker questions it all depends on the variant of stud poker you are playing, cash vs tourney, Hi/Lo/Split, etc.
If you post a few hand histories we can help.

Ofcourse it depends on the stud pokers, also goes into various categories. The way one proceeds depends makes the play interesting or boring.

Sounds like you played it pretty perfectly, actually. The only thing I might have done differently is bet the flop small. But even if you do that, perhaps the spade draw ahead of you who only has 3 to a flush right now folds, and you dont get his extra money on the turn. Depends on your style. Usually I bet with the nuts. Thats more because I play aggressive, and am more likely to get called.
