It's likely blackjack was born after paper was invented around the 10th Century in China or Korea. Around the 14th Century, playing cards gradually spread across Europe, modifications being made as they passed through each country. Most likely "vingt-et-un" (French for 21) was inspired from earlier games and originated in French casinos in the early 1700s.

Blackjack came to the United States in the mid-1860s when gambling was legal in the western U.S. In 1910, Nevada outlawed casinos, but had a change of heart in '31 and imposed regulations to protect players. Over the years blackjack has spread throughout the world and is probably the No. 1 casino game on the Internet.

There's a basic set of rules applying to all versions of blackjack. Generally, always stand on 17 or better, hit on 12 through 16 when the dealer shows 7 or higher and hit on 8 or less.

You should always double down on 11, on 10 when the dealer shows 9 or lower and on 9 when the dealer shows 6 or lower. Always split aces and 8's, and split 3's and 2's when the dealer shows a 4, 5, 6 or 7.

There are many tactics that increase your odds of winning. For example, if your cards total 12 to 16, that's the danger zone, and whether you draw or not depends on what the dealer is showing.

No matter what the dealer is showing, always assume there's a 10 hidden. When you have a soft 17 or 18, it's a good idea to draw another card if the dealer shows anything from a 9 to an ace.

If your first two cards are equal to 11 or less, always draw another card. If the dealer has a card showing between 2 and 6, you should not draw another card except when you have 12 and the dealer is showing a 2 or 3.

Since the dealer's up card is so important, assume a 10-value card is underneath before deciding what to do. In a multiple deck game, always spilt aces and 8's, but don't split 4's, 5's or 10's.

Always stand on a soft 19 and 20, but double down on a soft 13 through 18 when the dealer shows 4, 5 or 6.

There's no need to buy insurance because it's nothing more than a side bet that the dealer with an ace showing has a 10 in the hole. With normal card distribution, the 2-1 payoff is 8 percent against you -- not a good bet.

You are wagering the dealer will have 21. Remember, you're playing to beat the dealer, not that he will beat you.

The only time the odds lean toward you is if you're a keen observer and have a good idea there are fewer than twice as many non-10's than 10's.

By now it is a well-documented fact that blackjack is the only casino game that the skilled player has a chance of beating. Unlike poker, blackjack is a game of pure mathematics and there is never a need to use anything but math to play the game on the square.

However, most of the strategies that players were once able to use to beat the game can no longer be used in most casinos. What may be an ideal situation in theory (or in a simulated environment) is nowadays mostly of theoretical interest, since such situation can no longer occur in a casino. Casinos want blackjack to be a game of chance and they have gone through great lengths to eliminate any features that players used to be able to use to their advantage, by playing blackjack as a game of skill.

However, innovations never affect the entire world instantaneously and there are plenty of casinos around the world that have still not adopted many of the modern blackjack procedures. You may have to travel far, but if you know what to look for you may still be able to find blackjack games games that still have rules that a skilled blackjack player can exploit. I happen to travel a great deal and whenever I am visiting a new country I always check out the local gambling scene. I have seen casinos that deal down to the last deck of the shoe and don't seem to mind if players vary their bets all night long. Even their shuffling procedures are full of flaws. I have in fact played in such games and done quite well in a relatively short period of time. Of course, anything can happen in a short period of time and I am not ignoring the fact that luck also must have played some part during those short plays. But while I was winning, the usual gamblers were losing, as usual, because of course they didn't even know proper basic strategy.

There is no denying that a skilled poker player should stick to poker and I also agree that one should stay away form unfavorable BJ games. But I would not categorically dismiss blackjack as a whole, because all of them are not the same.

I like playing Black Jack in casino's (low stakes) It's usually full of fun people, and you can play for a long time (playing smart).

As far as strategy goes, I have none, except the standard plays you can get on a helper card. The only varience I play is I "stand" more than recommended. I feel when I have 16 and dealer shows a 9 I will sometimes stand and hope the dealer has crap underneath and busts. It's not the recommended move, but I hate busting myself.

Blackjack is the most popular casino table game in the world. It is also one of the few games where players have an actual edge over the house. The game is simple to understand and very easy to learn. Blackjack can be played with anywhere from 1 to 8 decks of cards. Table limits normally start at a minimum of $5 to $50000.

Blackjack is an extremely popular game and for good reasons. There are countless online gambling sites that present all the blackjack rules in a comprehensive and detailed manner. You cannot possibly expect to be a good blackjack player if you do not know the rules. At least learn the basic rules that apply to all blackjack variations.

the next step of the the gameplay of the game is to have some betting strategy or bankroll managment system that would allow you to manager your game, usually what happens is that players get very proficient on the game and then they evolve the bettings accordingly, but with the betting being studied by pro's for new commers it would be good to learn not only the game but also the strategy of the game and the betting strategy, im including you a link with general info on the blackjack betting advice (http://blackjack-advanced.com/Index.asp?ID=130&PageName=Essential%20Tips)the idea is you to develop from thhere

Hi according to me, best tip for blackjack player I have for any blackjack player is: Learn how to play poker.

The house always has a statistical edge at blackjack, craps, any other table games and slot machines. This means that you're always going to lose more than you win, in the long run.

Instead, find a casino that has poker tables at which you play against other patrons (NOT against the house or the dealer; those are table games like blackjack). Beating other players at poker is the only way to reliable make money at a casino.

Thanks!!
