I just wanted to send out a reminder to all the U.S. players to continue letting your voice be heard . Continue writing your Congressmen , and please join the PPA ( https://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/ ). They are over 800,000 strong now , and as we all know , there is power in numbers .

We have to try and sway the powers that be to have another look at the laws . Here are two replies back that I had got from my state...and you can bet that I'll continue to send off a letter every six months or so .

Dear Mr. Moore ,
Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) . I appreciate hearing from you.

As you know, this legislation was attached to the SAFE Port Act, which President Bush signed into law in October . While the UIGEA does not target individual betters, it prohibits gambling businesses from accepting checks, credit cards, and other electronic transfers in connection with illegal internet gambling.

The Secretary of the Treasury has until July to prescribe final rules to implement the new law. Please know that while there is currently no legislation in the Senate to repeal the UIGEA , I will keep your concerns in mind should any be introduced . I greatly value your thoughts and opinions as my constituent, and I assure you that I will continue to monitor this issue.

Thank you again for sharing your views with me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about any issue important to you or your family. It is an honor to serve you and the people of South Carolina .

Sincerely,
Jim DeMint
United States Senator M

and this one :

Dear Mr.Moore:

Thank you for contacting me regarding legislation strengthening enforcement of laws prohiiting internet gambling. I appreciate hearing from you and having the benefit of your views.

As you may know, the final version of H.R. 954, the Security and Accountability for Every (SAFE) Port Act, which was signed into law on October 13, 2006, included legislation further prohibiting on-line gambling, which is already illegal here in the United States. Unfortunately, illegal online gambling operations had sprouted up overseas, targeting American families and children and directly violating U.S. laws which were written before the Internet was commonplace. With the passage of the SAFE Port ACt, the law enforcement now has the tools needed to prosecute these off shore operations and credit card companies now have the ability to prevent illegal gambling transactions and ensure that U.S. law is observed.

While we may disagree on this particular piece of legislation, please do not hesitate to contact. I look foward to representing you in Congress.

Sincerely,
Henry E. Brown Jr.
Member of Congress
