A recent Congressional hearing this April helped expose the flaws and vagueness of the UIGEA. Experts from the financial field testified on how the UIGEA was extremely difficult to enforce on many levels.

News from the hearing was reported in U.S. papers nationwide, which makes it the perfect time to tell your Members of Congress that you want them to help fight the UIGEA and support more practical and reasonable legislation that effectively addresses underage and problem gambling.

This is a brand new message (as of April 9, 2008) so even if you have written Congress before you should do so again.

Your U.S. Representative needs to hear that you are a poker player, you vote, and that you want them to cosponsor H.R. 2610 and H.R. 2046. Your Senators need to hear that you are a poker player, you vote, and that you want them to support any similar legislation that is introduced in the Senate.

Regulation of Internet poker is the correct government response, NOT prohibition.

If you are from the U.S. , and have not been writing your Congressmen about the UIGEA , I encourage you to do so . You can do it very simply by clicking www.pokerplayersalliance.org/letter (http://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/letter) . The PPA makes it very easy to do so and it won't cost you a cent .
