Personally i dont think patience is a hard thing to learn but for me learning other poker players tells is much more of a challenge.

I find being moved from table to table hinders your ability to spot tells. The three things that have saved me from making all-in calls or even betting out against people is taken from Mike caro's books: The trembling bet, sounds of woe, shrugging bets and chip glances after looking at hole cards, flop, turn, etc. I find these three invaluable. We all do the chip glance and the trembling bet is priceless in tournaments.

I would be interested to know what other people find useful.

Moving tables can throw you off . What I try to do is play nothing but the strongest of hands for a couple rounds to see what others are doing if I'm able to .

Gotta hate those times when you get moved to a new table being short stacked and get a monster right off , only to be staring at the bullets ...and it's sure happened to me a few times .

I also find that the poor players play premium hands in one of two ways. They slow play AA with six people in the pot and then bitch when they are beaten! or they make silly raises when the blinds are small. For example, blinds 25/50 in late position, first into the pot and raise up to 1,000! They also move all-in from any position with hands they are unsure how to play: AJ, JJ, 1010, A10s.

Waiting for a hand through the first few levels is standard for me. The really bad players get busted out with their top pair/top kicker and you can then start to steal with a decent image. I just hate it when you have a player to your left quadruple up within ten minutes and can't steal anything.

I have learned to watch the hands of an unknown player as they bet. If they are new to live poker, playing above thier bankroll or taking a shot they are generally very nervous. Those Shaky hands mean one of two things play your cards very carefully cause they got a strong, but beatable, hand.

don't think of tells as much as what the person does during the hand think more about what actions and bets does he make during the hand. does it add up or make sense. that is what i do and most of the time and if it don't make sense i normally call. i am not always right but most of the time i am.

Yes...I like HIGH STAKES POKER too...expecially our new players like Tom Durrrr Dwan or Eastgate...
Tom Durrrr Dwan showed his potencial....and He was playing a lot of hands very well...with nice reads
But I was suprised, when He lost over 250KAA against Greenstain with 9J in episode 4...Bad luck but well played...

HSP on FSN is not really poker as we normal players would know it.
They play on a completely different plane of reality than we do.
Ignore everything you see on that show.

there are definitely tells, but you would have to know how the person sets their hand, like if he has quads, will he put them down first and get a kicker later? i dont actually have any as i havent played it much, but that does seem like one anyway
